It's another donation from Larkfleet!

We just can't stop helping people here at Larkfleet HQ and this time we've donated £4,000 to Cottesmore Millfied Academy in Oakham.

The cheque was presented by (pictured, right) Sam Hart (Larkfleet's sales director) to Rachel Thomas (left) who is the headteacher at the school.

Some of the money will be used to purchase benches for the children to enjoy in the school gardens.

If you are wondering why the kids are wearing 'construction clothes' in the pictures, well they were also donated by Larkfleet for them to keep, much to their delight! In fact, it was rather funny and cute watching the children still wearing their hats as they left in cars!

The cheque was presented at the Buttercross development in Oakham which offers a stunning range of two, three, four and five bedroom properties in beautiful surroundings.

Top Tips Tuesday - Decorating your new home!

Decorating can be great fun - and extremely stressful!  Anyone who has stood in front of the shelves and shelves of paint colours in their local DIY store will know the pain of wondering which one shade of yellow to pick, particularly when the actual colour differences often seem so minute!

Here are our top tips this Tuesday:

1. If you are painting, avoid cheap brushes and do all your 'cutting in' and edges first!  If 'cutting in' means nothing to you, it might be worth consulting an expert painter and decorator!
2. Remember patience is key! Give your new home time to settle before spending on decorating.  Larkfleet Homes suggest you leave it at least six months before starting to decorate.  Every new home will have a few fine settling cracks that will appear as the plaster fully dries out.
3. Try and connect the house and make it flow.  Our show house at Buttercross Park, Oakham uses just this tip.  Using a strong and bold orange as the main colour running throughout the home, different wallpapers and accessories are used to pull the scheme together as it flows throughout the house.

A quick round up of the latest designer ideas for Spring 2016 suggests that the colours you should look at to decorate your new home are a luscious mix of subtle shades and adventurous strong tones.

Greys are used in a number of ways again, as they were last year.  It is used either as a stand-alone colour or paired with other brighter colours, such as oranges and yellows.

Wallpaper remains top of the list for wall coverings, with bold geometric prints being used to make strong statements.  We think we have put these to their best use in our showhomes at Buttercross Park in Oakham and our Whittlesey Green development, near to Peterborough.

House Beautiful says they believe that lilac will be out in full force this year, whether it is a strong, dark shade or a lighter, more delicate colour.
